McConnell would back Trump if he wins 2024 GOP nomination

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell stressed he would "absolutely" support ex-President Donald Trump if he becomes the Republican presidential nominee in the 2024 United States election, adding that "whoever that may be, the best chance to be victorious" is to gain broad support within the party.

The 2024 Republican Party presidential primaries "should be a wide-open race," McConnell said in an interview with Fox News. "I've got at least four members that I think are planning on running for president, plus some governors and others. There’s no incumbent," the senator for Kentucky unveiled.

Previously, McConnell voted to acquit Trump in the Senate impeachment trial due to "technicalities" though he accused the former president of being "practically and morally responsible for insurrection."
