McDonald's to reopen restaurants in western Ukraine

McDonald's Corp. announced on Thursday that the fast food chain would restart work at some of its restaurants across Ukraine despite the ongoing war in the southern and eastern parts of the country.

"After extensive consultation and discussion with Ukrainian officials, suppliers, and security specialists, and considering our employees' request to return to work, we have decided to institute a phased plan to reopen some restaurants in Kiev and western Ukraine," McDonald's executive Paul Pomroy revealed. However, Pomroy didn't confirm how many of the closed 109 Ukrainian restaurants would be reopened.

McDonald's closed its restaurants in Ukraine and Russia following Moscow's invasion in late February. Shortly after, the American company decided to completely withdraw from the Russian market, selling its restaurants to a local food chain in the process.
