McLaughlin breaks 400m hurdles world record

American Sydney McLaughlin won gold in the women's 400-meter hurdles, setting a new world record with the time of 51.46 seconds.

The 21-year-old American became the first woman to run the event under 52 seconds when she broke the world record with a time of 51.90 seconds in June this year, but now managed to better that time. Her compatriot and former world-record holder Dalilah Muhammad came in second, while Dutchwoman Femke Bol took the bronze medal.

On Tuesday, Norwegian Karsten Warholm broke the men's world record in the same event with a time of 45.94 seconds.
