Meadows to face contempt proceedings - Jan 6. panel

House of Representatives' Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol revealed it will go ahead with criminal contempt proceedings against former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows after he ceased his cooperation with the panel.

"The Select Committee is left with no choice but to... recommend that the body in which Mr. Meadows once served [the House of Representatives] refer him for criminal prosecution," panel chair Bennie Thompson said in a letter published on Wednesday.

Even though Meadows had been cooperating with the committee's investigation, he changed his mind as "the Select Committee has no intention of respecting boundaries concerning Executive Privilege," according to his lawyer.
