Medvedev blasts attempts to 'prevent' WWIII by arming Kiev
Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev on Saturday criticized the Western world over its alleged efforts to "justify" supplying Ukraine with weapons by claiming that the move is meant to avert the next global conflict.
"Firstly, the protection of Ukraine, which no one needs in Europe, will not save the decrepit Old World from retribution," Medvedev stated, arguing that if the third world war were to start "then, alas, it will not be on tanks and not even on fighters."
Medvedev's comments come as a response to statements made by Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, who had claimed that Russian tanks appearing in Kiev would signify that World War III was about to break out and that the weaponry delivered to Ukraine was meant to stop the said escalation.
