Meeting with Barclay 'constructive' - Barnier

European Union chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier described his meeting with United Kingdom Brexit Secretary Stephen Barclay on Friday as "constructive." Barclay's statement echoed the sentiment.

Barnier also said that both sides have to be cautious and resolved in Brexit negotiations, comparing the UK's departure from the EU to "climbing a mountain." Both officials did not provide further details of their meeting.

Earlier today, President of the European Council Donald Tusk said that he would proclaim at the EU summit that there is no possibility of a Brexit deal if British Prime Minister Boris Johnson does not offer a workable proposal today, while also noticing "promising signs" in yesterday's negotiations between Johnson and Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar.
