Melbourne to exit COVID lockdown early

Victoria State Premier Daniel Andrews (pictured) announced on Sunday that the state's capital Melbourne will exit coronavirus lockdown five days earlier than planned.

Andrews noted that by Tuesday 90% of adults in the state will have gotten at least one shot of the coronavirus vaccine. Furthermore, he said that with the lifting of restrictions there will be no curfew and all businesses will be able to reopen at a reduced capacity.

Australia's second-largest city has been in lockdown longer than any other city in the world, with the total number of days over six lockdowns being 262.
