Merkel praises Biden's 'new momentum' in G7 talks

German Chancellor Angela Merkel welcomed on Sunday the "new momentum" brought to the G7 summit by United States President Joe Biden. She also praised his stance on climate change, stating it has been "much easier" to discuss climate-related issues since the US rejoined the Paris accord.

"It's not like the world no longer has any problems because of the election of Joe Biden as US president. But we can work on solutions to those problems with new momentum. And I think it's very good that we have become more concrete at this G7," Merkel said. She also criticized China's forced labor policies and noted the country's "very successful infrastructure policy" which that G7 has to "grapple with" and better coordinate its own infrastructure projects.
