Merkel urges continued dialogue with Moscow

German Chancellor Angela Merkel stated on Friday that Brussels needs to continue the dialogue with Russia "no matter how difficult" if the European Union is to achieve "security and stability."

"If United States President Joe Biden meets with Russian President Vladimir Putin and maintains an open dialogue with him, it is fair that we on the European side should do it," the leader asserted.

Earlier today, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian claimed that maintaining "constant pressure" on Kremlin is necessary in order to prevent Moscow's "drift towards authoritarianism."
