Meta announces text-to-image generator Emu
Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on Wednesday the launch of several new artificial intelligence tools, including a text-to-image generator called Emu, as well as AI editing tools for Instagram.
Zuckerberg explained that Emu, short for expressive media universe, will be built into Chats and can generate images when given textual clues in about five seconds. Furthermore, users will be able use the tool to generate custom stickers across the company's apps.
Furthermore, the AI editing tools for Instagram, which will roll in about a month, will let users restyle photos and enable them to change backgrounds, among other things. However, the company stressed that "images created with restyle and backdrop will indicate the use of AI to reduce the chances of people mistaking them for human-generated content."
