Mexico to accept US steel proposal with conditions - Ebrard

Marcelo Ebrard (pictured), Mexico's Foreign Minister, stated on Sunday the government consulted the country's senate regarding the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

Ebrard said Mexico would accept Washington's proposals on steel, but only after the rule took effect at least five years after the pact’s ratification. However, he said his government wouldn't accept US labor inspections in Mexico, or the country's demands over rules for aluminum.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump claimed the new NAFTA agreement may collapse if House Speaker Nancy Pelosi "doesn’t move quickly" to put it up for a vote.
