Michael Bloomberg starts $500M anti-Trump fund

Former New York City Mayor and billionaire Michael Bloomberg is planning to give approximately $500 million of his own money to block United States President Donald Trump's second White House run, Politico reported on Wednesday, citing sources with knowledge on the matter. Bloomberg is planning to fund a shadow party aimed for the future Democratic candidate or to use the money to finance his own White House campaign, the report indicated.

"Mike spent $100 million in his last New York City election. And you can do the math as you think more broadly but New York City is 3 percent of the national population," Bloomberg's adviser Kevin Sheeky stated. "I’m not suggesting it’s straight math. But I’m suggesting that when Mike Bloomberg is committed to making a difference and seeing something though, generally speaking he’s pretty unabashed in doing so," he pointed out.

The former mayor of New York has still not formally announced his presidential bid. Last week he noted that he will make the decision in a few weeks.
