Microsoft disrupted China-based hackers' activities

Microsoft Corporation announced on Monday that its Digital Crimes Unit obstructed the activities of a China-based hackers' group named Nickel.

The company issued a statement explaining that it was given permission by a court in the state of Virginia to seize websites which the group was using to launch attacks against entities in the "United States and 28 other countries around the world."

"We believe these attacks were largely being used for intelligence gathering from government agencies, think tanks and human rights organizations," the firm said.
