Microsoft's Q2 revenue up by 20% to $51.7 billion

Microsoft Corporation announced its revenue in the second quarter of the fiscal year 2022 rose by 20% on an annual level to $51.7 billion. The tech giant's net income increased by 21% in comparison to the same period the year before to $18.8 billion, while its operating income went up by 24% to $22.2 billion. Its diluted earnings per share (EPS) grew by 22% year-on-year to $2.48 per share. All the figures were in line with or slightly above market expectations.

"Digital technology is the most malleable resource at the world’s disposal to overcome constraints and reimagine everyday work and life," Microsoft's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Satya Nadella commented on the results. "As tech as a percentage of global GDP [gross domestic product] continues to increase, we are innovating and investing across diverse and growing markets, with a common underlying technology stack and an operating model that reinforces a common strategy, culture, and sense of purpose."

Following the release of the report, the company's shares sank by 6.49% in after-hours trading.
