Moon calls for declaration on end of Korean War

South Korean President Moon Jae-in called on Tuesday for a declaration that would formally announce the end of the war on the Korean peninsula.

In his address to the United Nation's 76th General Assembly, he suggested that South Korea, North Korea, the United States, and China "come together and declare that the War on the Korean Peninsula is over."

The hostilities between Seoul and Pyongyang lasted between 1950 and 1953, but no peace treaty was signed after the decoupling of the two countries and the establishment of the demilitarized zone.
