Mueller interviewed Kelly over alleged probe obstruction - report

White House Chief of Staff John Kelly was interrogated by the Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team, the CNN reported on Friday, citing unnamed three people with knowledge of the matter.

The CNN's sources said that Mueller's questions were "centered on a narrow set of issues in the investigation of potential obstruction of justice," mainly on Kelly's recollection of an incident that happened after reports regarding alleged president's intention to fire Mueller emerged.

Earlier, the media reported that the chief of staff is set to step down in the coming days after reaching a "stalemate" in the relationship with the president." Kelly reportedly already threatened Trump with a resignation earlier this year but was then said to have decided to extend his stay in the Trump administration until the end of president's term in 2020.
