Muller: ECB likely to hike rates by 25 bp more than once

European Central Bank (ECB) Governing Council member Madis Muller told reporters at a seminar in Tallinn on Wednesday that "looking at how fast inflation is right now, I think it’s very likely that we’re in for more than one more" quarter of a percentage point interest rate increase.

Muller reiterated that it is "too optimistic" to expect that the ECB will opt for cutting interest rates early next year, as there haven't been any signs of the core inflation slowing yet.

Previously, ECB Governing Council member Pablo Hernandez de Cos shared that the central bank is "closer to the end" of the monetary policy tightening cycle, adding, however, that there is still some way to go.
