Musk proceeds with Twitter payments plan
Twitter Inc. has begun applying for regulatory licenses in the United States and designing the software to introduce payment service within the platform, the Financial Times reported on Monday.
Citing people familiar with the matter, the agency stated that Esther Crawford, Twitter's director of product management, started to plan out the system required to facilitate payments, building on CEO Elon Musk's promise to introduce an "everything app" that would incorporate messaging, payments, and commerce.
It was first reported in November that the company is looking to get into "the payments business," after which Musk stated his support of the platform having a payment option.
