N. Korea, S. Korea hold 1st radio hotline call in 13 months

North Korea on Tuesday answered South Korea's calls via a radio hotline, marking the first time that the two sides established direct communication since all channels were cut 13 months ago, Yonhap News Agency reported citing officials with the South Korean defense ministry. Pyongyang, however, didn't answer South's ship-to-ship radio links, the officials reportedly added.

Last week, the two Koreas decided to reestablish the hotline that was cut off by Pyongyang in June last year over Seoul's alleged attempts to spread anti-government information across the border, after which the North entered several areas disarmed under inter-Korean agreements.
