Nasdaq rallies 2% at close as Tesla leads gains
Major stock market indexes in the United States closed in the positive territory on Thursday as tech companies' earnings reports pulled the indexes up, with Tesla, in particular, gaining throughout today's session following its fourth-quarter and full-year revenues reveal the day before. The latest batch of economic data showed that the United States GDP annually rose by 2.9% in the last quarter of 2022, followed by reports on durable goods orders, initial jobless claims, and the trade deficit in the country.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average grew 0.61% or 200 points at the close. The best performer was Salesforce whose shares increased by 5.71%. The Nasdaq 100 added 2.00% or 236 points and the S&P 500 rose by 1.10% as Tesla surged in both indexes by 10.97%.
The euro traded 0.21% lower against the dollar to change hands for 1.08939 at 4:00 pm ET.
