NATO encouraged by Russia de-escalation - report

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) welcomed Russia's de-escalation efforts when it comes to the military buildup near the Ukrainian border, RIA reported on Thursday.

Citing sources close to the matter, NATO considered the withdrawal of troops long overdue and encouraging, but the organization remained vigilant and would continue to monitor the situation carefully.

Earlier today, Russia's Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu announced that the country has finished its military exercises and that troops would get back to their stations by May 1, as the European Union noted that relations with the country have deteriorated.
