NATO ready for Russia dialogue

The Chairman of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation's Military Committee Sir Stuart Peach (pictured) stated that the organization remained ready to have a dialogue with Russia within the framework of the Russia-NATO Council, TASS reported on Tuesday.

During a meeting of NATO's Military Committee, Peach asserted that the alliance continues to have a "dual approach towards Russia," but lamented that the country "does not respond positively to the proposals to hold a NATO-Russia Council." However, he also noted that NATO will " continue to count on constructive relations with Russia when its actions make it possible."

NATO's contention with Russia seems to remain primarily over the Donbass region in eastern Ukraine, as the organization's Secretary-General has previously stated that Russia was yet to remove all troops from the region, while the country stated that NATO actions constitute an increased military threat to its security.
