NATO's door open for whenever Ukraine is ready - Blinken

United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in an interview on Thursday that "NATO's door remains open" for Ukraine, once it is ready to meet the necessary standards and to add to the alliance's security.

According to Blinken Ukraine has been working closely with cooperative programs, but is still facing two main challenges: external aggression from Russia and internal pressure from corruption and from oligarchs who act in their personal interest.

During his trip to Kiev, Blinken had a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. The main topics on the agenda were the importance of advancing rule of law and economic reforms to strengthen Ukraine’s institutions, as well as America's support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of Russia.
