NATO to provide more military training for Baltics

United States Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin underscored on Wednesday that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is focused on "strengthening" its presence on the eastern flank of the alliance, by also conducting more military exercises with the Baltic nations, including Latvia.

Speaking at a press conference with Latvia's Defense Minister Artis Pabriks, Austin revealed plans of rotations of forces into the Baltic, using troops mostly stationed in Romania and other parts of Europe, with a possibility of sending more forces from the US if needed.

"The United States remains steadfast and our commitment to freedom and sovereignty of our Baltic allies," noted Austin during a press conference in Riga, Latvia. "Putin thought he could divide the NATO alliance with his aggression but in fact, he reached just the opposite. The alliance is more united than ever before," stressed Austin.
