NATO urges Russia to fully comply with Open Skies Treaty

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg called on Russia on Friday to start fully complying with the Open Skies Treaty.

After a meeting with NATO allies, Stoltenberg insisted it was vital for all sides to be in full compliance with the treaty in o0rder to preserve "effective international arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation." He claimed that Russia's "ongoing selective implementation of its obligations" under the treaty poses a threat to security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic region.

Earlier, the United States threatened pulling out from the treaty over Russia allegedly not fulfilling its obligations. but stressed it may reverse the decision if Moscow goes back to full compliance. Russia dismissed Washington's allegations, insisting it did not violate the treaty.
