Navarro: China trade talks back on track

White House trade advisor Peter Navarro (pictured) said on Wednesday that negotiations between China and the United States on trade are "back on track" and "headed in a very good direction." "The market should be happy about it, investors should be happy about it," Navarro underscored.

Speaking to CNBC following his return from the G20 summit in Osaka, Navarro stated the "close, personal chemistry" between US President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping is crucial for these negotiations and highlighted Beijing promise to make "immediate and significant" agricultural purchases in return for easing the ban on Huawei.

However, the complexity of a trade deal between the two still requires more work, he added.
