NetEase-Blizzard pact to reportedly expire without new deal
NetEase Inc. is dissolving a team that handled video games of Blizzard Entertainment Inc., a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard Inc., in China, the South China Morning Post reported on Friday, citing three unnamed sources with knowledge of the matter.
Employees from the NetEase team that worked on Blizzard games in Shanghai have been either laid off or moved to other divisions within the company, according to the insiders.
The latest development ended hopes that the 14-year partnership between the Chinese and the United States video gaming companies could be extended before it expires on January 23, according to the media outlet.
