Netflix new subscribers increase to 6.8M in Q3

Netflix's number of new subscribers was 6.8 million in the third quarter of the year, compared to 2.7 million accounts registered in the previous three-month period and 6.1 million in the third quarter of 2018. Netflix previously said it wanted to reach 7 million subscribers in the quarter ending September 30. In the last quarter of the year, Netflix wants to reach 7.4 million new subscribers, the company revealed.

The streaming giant's diluted earnings per share came in at $1.47, rising 65% year-on-year. Net income was reported at $665 million, increasing from $403 million in the third quarter in 2018. Meanwhile, revenue grew 31.1% compared to the same period last year as it reached $5.2 billion. Global streaming paid memberships were up in the third quarter by 21.4% to 158.33 million.

After the bell, Netflix shares rose 5.14%.
