New US anti-Russia sanctions doomed to fail - Ryabkov

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov (pictured) told Interfax on Friday that the new United States sanctions related to Crimea are "doomed to fail" and noted Moscow is not taking them into account. According to the official, Russia does not plan to change its domestic and foreign political plans as a result of the new embargo.

Meanwhile, Russia's embassy in Washington DC issued a statement saying Moscow does not understand what the US is "trying to achieve" with the sanctions. "We’ve noticed that Crimean hotels ended up in the sanctions list this time, including the best SPA hotel in the world. In this regard we expect the popularity of these resorts to grow. We are confident that they will add special offers for American tourists," the embassy stated.

On Thursday, the US announced it will target nine Russian entities and three individuals with Crimea-related sanctions over their alleged support for "Russia’s attempts to integrate the Crimea region of Ukraine through private investments and private projects."
