Andritz to supply three cold-rolling mills and one annealing and pickling line for plants in Germany and China

Graz, 27 March 2003. Austrian Technology Group Andritz, based in
Graz, announces a large international order for its Rolling Mills and
Strip Processing Lines Business Area. One of the world's largest
producers of stainless steel, the ThyssenKrupp Stainless Group,
awarded Andritz a contract to supply three cold-rolling mills and one
annealing and pickling line for cold-rolled strip. The contract also
includes an option for supply of a fourth rolling mill. With this
important reference, the Andritz Rolling Mills and Strip Processing
Lines Business Area has clearly affirmed its status as one of the
leading international suppliers in this sector.

For this order, Andritz will provide the engineering, manufacturing,
erection, and start-up of all the machinery. One cold-rolling mill
will be installed at ThyssenKrupp's Nirosta works in Krefeld,
Germany. Two cold-rolling mills and the complete annealing and
pickling line will be delivered to the Shanghai Krupp Stainless works
in Shanghai, China.

Andritz has been a major supplier to the ThyssenKrupp Stainless Group
for many years. With its affiliates Sundwig and Thermtec Andritz AG
is the only company that can provide the complete integrated
production line - an important factor in the customer's
decision-making process. For example, the annealing and pickling
line for the Shanghai plant will be supplied entirely by Andritz:
Sundwig providing the mechanical equipment, Andritz AG the chemical
part, and Thermtec the furnace section. Just recently, Andritz has
successfully completed a similar plant for ThyssenKrupp Nirosta in
Krefeld, Germany.

The strategy of providing complete production lines has helped
Andritz confirm its role as one of the world's leading suppliers to
the stainless steel industry. In China, Andritz has advanced to
become one of the most prominent suppliers in the cold-rolling mills
sector for stainless steel.

The order in detail
ThyssenKrupp Nirosta in Krefeld
Sundwig GmbH will supply a 20-roll cold-rolling mill with hydraulic
screwdown system, guided on four columns, for expansion of the
cold-rolling capacity by approximately 110,000 tonnes p.a. This
design is particularly suitable for cold-rolling of stainless steel
strip with stringent demands on surface evenness and tolerances.
Sundwig supplied a mill stand of similar design to the ThyssenKrupp
Nirosta works in Dillenburg.

Shanghai Krupp Stainless
ThyssenKrupp Nirosta's sister company, Shanghai Krupp Stainless - a
Sino-German joint venture under the industrial auspices of
ThyssenKrupp Stainless - also chose Sundwig's four-column design for
its expansion of cold-rolling capacity from the current 70,000 -
80,000 tonnes p.a. to 290,000 tonnes p.a. Initially, two
cold-rolling mills will be set up in series. The option to purchase
another cold-rolling mill of the same design to further extend
production may be exercised in 2003. This is a breakthrough for
Andritz' cold-rolling technology, particularly in China, where a
similar Sundwig-mill stand is currently being built in a stainless
steel works belonging to Baosteel.

The Andritz Group has already supplied much of the equipment to
Shanghai Krupp Stainless - including a bright-annealing line for
stainless steel strip. This bright-annealing line was ramped up to
the planned output with very exacting surface requirements in a short
