Denmark: GDP up 0.20%, unemployment rate at 3.70%

The gross domestic product of the Danish economy was 0.20% higher in the fourth quarter of 2015 compared to the same period a year ago, according to data from the national statistical bureau Denmarks Statistik (DS) published on Monday.

The seasonally adjusted data show that GDP in the last quarter of 2015 grew by 1.00% compared to the same period a year ago, while the growth compared to the third quarter was 0.10% lower. The numbers from the DS show that in other terms such as gross national income remained virtually the same.

There were 123,747 unemployed persons in Denmark in January, a rise of 8,000 compared to December, according to separate set of data from the DS. However, the number of employed was higher when compared to the same month a year ago. The latest available data for employment show that the rate stood at 3.70%, the lowest in the year. The seasonally adjusted rate of unemployment was 4.4%.

The country's leading market index OMX Copenhagen 20 opened lower on Monday and was down 0.73% at 940 points at 10:10 a.m. CET.

The Danish krone was even with euro at 10:10 a.m. CET.
