Sweden: Unemployment rate falls to 7.3%
There were 4,873,000 people aged 15-74 working in Sweden in April. That is 111 thousand compared to April 2015. The number of unemployed fell by 51 thousand in the same period, leaving 381 thousand looking for job, according to data from the Statistics Sweden (SCB) released on Wednesday.
This puts the unemployment rate at 7.3%, a decrease of 1 percentage points. When adjusted for seasonal factors, the unemployment rate stood at 6.9%.
"Compared with the outcome of previous months, the data for April 2016 indicates a somewhat improved labour market with a larger increase in the number of employed persons as well as the number of hours worked and a larger decrease in the number of unemployed persons," said the SCB report.
