Retail trade in Italy advances 2.2% year on year in March

The seasonally adjusted retail trade index calculated by Italian National Institute of Statistics, or Istat, dipped 0.6% in March. The report published on Thursday said turnover at current prices rose 2.2% against the same month of last year on an unadjusted basis. The volume fell 1.2% for food and 0.3% in the non-food segment from the previous month. In February, the index increased 0.3% on a monthly basis and 2.7% year on year.

The FTSE MIB index fell 0.43% at 10:09 a.m. CET. Fiat, Azimut and Exor took the biggest hit, all down slightly over 1%. Telecom Italia led the gainers, climbing 2.58%, followed by a rise of 2.3% in Tenaris. TOD's rose 1.39%, as the only other stock with an advance of over 1%.
