European markets wobble on open

There was a shaky start for most of the European markets on Tuesday, moving between gains and losses as investors were looking into some earnings reports, while the crude oil prices were over 1% lower.

The pan-European Stoxx 600 slid 0.16%, while the Euronext 100 was up 0.13% at 9:10 a.m. CET.

In Germany, the DAX added 0.23% to 10,449 points.

French CAC 40 edged down 0.01% to 4,414 points. LafargeHolcim and AXA were leading in gains, while Danone, Kering and Airbus were losing well over 1%.

The FTSE 100 opened 0.03% lower at 6,809 points. WorldPay, Standard Life and Smiths Group were early gainers. Mining companies declined.

The Italian FTSE MIB added 0.09% opening at 17,759 points. Banks and Fiat were the best performers.

The euro was 0.15% weaker against the U.S. dollar, and strengthened 0.37% versus the British pound. The currency slid 0.03% under the Swiss franc and was 0.11% compared to the Japanese yen at 9:15 a.m. CET.
