Deutsche Telekom's net profit falls 12.8% in Q2

Deutsche Telekom AG earned €17.8 billion in revenue in the second quarter of 2016, marking a rise of 2.2% in comparison to the same period last year, the company reported on Thursday. The company’s net profit fell 12.8% to €621 million, while adjusted EBITDA was 8.6% higher than in the April-June period in 2015 amounting to €5.4 billion. Earnings per share declined 18.8% to €0.13.

In the first half of 2016, Deutsche Telekom achieved €35.4 billion in revenue, or 3.4% higher than in the six-month period in 2015.  The largest first-half net income growth was recorded in the United States operating segment of the telecommunications firm which went up 11.6% compared to the same period in 2015. On the other hand, the company’s revenue in the period ending June 30 in Germany and the rest of Europe both declined by 2.8% compared to the previous year.
