Linde, Praxair agree on possible $66.6bn merger

Industrial gases companies, German Linde AG and American Praxair Inc., reached an agreement on a potential merger which would value the newly created company at $66.6 billion, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday.

Linde stated that the two firms would be equal partners if the merger were to happen, but pointed out the agreement is not binding.

The combined company would be the largest industrial gases firm in the world in case the deal materializes.

Praxair and Linde previously held negotiations in the summer of this year, but suspended talks in September as the German company's workers were against moving the new company’s headquarters from Europe to the United States.
