Europe closes lower on mixed earnings

European equities settled in the red on Thursday following the US sentiment and mixed earnings reported earlier today.

The DAX fell 0.42% with Heidelbergcement dropping 2.71% after Deutsche Bank downgraded the company's stock rating to "hold".

The CAC 40 decreased 0.09%. The worst performer was Veolia Environnement, losing 5.78% after delaying its profitability target by one year to 2019.

The FTSE 100 declined 0.42%. Easyjet shares plummeted 6.11%. Rio Tinto and HSBC Holdings followed with drops of 5.27% and 3.96%,respectively.

The euro advanced 0.19% against the dollar, buying 1.0585 at 5:58 pm CET.
