IBM rolls out blockchain services with open source
Linux Foundation's Hyperledger Fabric was used in the creation of International Business Machines Corp.'s commercial blockchain-as-a-service project, unveiled on Monday during the five-day Interconnect conference in Las Vegas. The open source codebase application has been upgraded from its beta version and initially comes in two forms, outlining features available for startups and enterprises.
IBM Blockchain's identity solution designed with SecureKey Technologies will be the basis for an public-private partnership endeavor with six banks in Canada, which invested $27 million. Another deployment of the digital ledger, scheduled for May, will be a platform for carbon credits in China, in cooperation with Energy-Blockchain Labs Ltd., a firm which aims to grow in digitalized green assets and green finance market. IBM's project in the blockchain-as-a-service segment is available on the BlueMix cloud computing store.
