US government bonds fall ahead of Fed minutes

United States government bonds were softer on Wednesday as investors await minutes from the Federal Reserve meeting last month and look forward to President Donald Trump's upcoming summit with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.

The yield on 10-year Treasuries edged up 0.54 basis points to 2.3659% at 2:46 pm CET, while the yield on two-year bonds increased 0.6 basis points to 1.258%. The yield on 30-year debt rose 0.8 basis points to 3.0079% at the same time.

Across the Atlantic, the yield on 10-year British gilts advanced 2.8 basis points to 1.095%, while the yield on German Bunds of equivalent maturity strengthened 1.3 basis points to 0.27%. Bond yields move in the opposite direction relative to prices.
