European stocks close mixed

European stocks closed mixed on Wednesday amid reports that US President Donald Trump decided to withdraw his country from the Paris climate agreement.

The DAX advanced 0.13% with E.ON being the best performer as its stocks increased 2.87%. The German group's shares rose after reports that the company is discussing sale of its stake in Uniper to Fortum Oyj. In Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.42% as Societe Generale dropped almost 5%. London's FTSE 100 edged down 0.09% pulled down by the mining sector. Anglo American decreased 2.58% while BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto followed with declines of 2.37% and 2.27%, respectively.

The euro grew 0.44% against the dollar, buying 1.1234 at 5:50 pm CET. At the same time, sterling rose 0.33% against the US currency, to go for 1.2899.
