One of the heavily injured victims in yesterday's Catalonia attack has died on Friday, according to a report from a local newspaper El Diario. This increased the number of fatalities to 14. The person died of stab wounds following the attack in the Spanish city of Cambrils. Police killed five men in Cambrils, south of Barcelona, after they carried out an attack which injured seven including one law enforcement officer.

On Thursday, 13 people were killed and 100 were injured after a van rammed into pedestrians in Barcelona's Las Ramblas district, conducting a separate but related attack on the Spanish coast. Catalan police said they have arrested a third person in connection to yesterday's deadly terror incident. The suspect was detained in the town of Ripoll, around 100 km north of Barcelona.

Meanwhile, local authorities identified the first Spanish victim, 60-year-old Francisco López Rodríguez from Granada. The terror attack victims are thought to have been nationals of at least 23 countries with 13 identified as German citizens while one woman is said to be Russian.
