HTC halts trading amid leaks on Alphabet's offer
The Taiwan Stock Exchange said on Wednesday after the bell that HTC Corp. is suspending trading in its shares and underlying securities "pending the release of material information."
The announcement comes after speculation published by news outlets in China's breakaway island that Alphabet Inc. is about to purchase the struggling smartphone maker's research and development unit. Some of unnamed sources even indicated there is a possibility Google Inc.'s parent wants to acquire the entire company.
