Bitcoin hovers around $4,100
Bitcoin traded with gains on Wednesday, hovering around $4,100, following reports that North Korean hackers tried to breach into South Korea's virtual currency exchanges in an attempt to steal bitcoin.
According to Yonhap News Agency, a police investigation revealed North Korean hackers, who pretended to be security authorities, sent dozens of emails containing malware between July and August this year to employees at four local bitcoin exchanges in South Korea. However, no computers were compromized and no digital currency was stolen in this case, the report said.
Bitcoin climbed 5.29% to $4,091 and gained 5.26% against the euro to trade for 3,450. The cryptocurrency rose 4.07% to 25,810 Chinese yuan, while bitcoin cash jumped 2.93% to $463.2.
