Bitcoin tops $5,000 for first time
The first cryptocurrency put another important milestone behind itself on Thursday, setting a new record high, while there are analysts claiming it can get much stronger than that.
The Bitcoin spiked 5.83% to $5,106 at 10:03 am CET, and against the euro it was 3.47% up, buying 4,197.8. The exchange rate against the Chinese yuan rose 3.51% to 31,000, compared to the all-time high of 32,350, set on September 2. Spinoff currency Bitcoin Cash was down 1.47% at $309.
Investors brushed off concerns over the upcoming SegWit2x hard fork, which will create two blockchains in the system.
