WH considering El-Erian for Fed vice chair

One of the top candidates being considered by the White House for the position of the vice chairperson of the United States Federal Reserve System is Mohamed El-Erian, an Egyptian-American businessman, Dow Jones reported on Tuesday.

The report also noted that Michelle Bowman, a Kansas banking regulator, is a candidate for Fed Governor.

A number of individuals are in the race for the vice chair, US media stressed. The spot was opened after President Donald Trump picked Jerome Powell to success Janet Yellen as Fed chair.

El-Erian is the former CEO of PIMCO and is currently serving as the chief economic adviser at Allianz.
