Bitcoin tops $9,900 for first time, eyeing 10k milestone
Widespread adoption around the world is crushing any pessimistic sentiment – the first cryptocurrency set a record value on Tuesday on main exchanges, after already beating the all-time high earlier in the session. The Bitcoin touched $9,901 at 12:19 pm CET, a rise of 1.82% for the day, as market capitalization charged above $165 billion, near the projected nominal gross domestic product of Qatar. The exchange rate against the euro surged 2.36% to 8,245. The system's offshoot Bitcoin Cash fell 2.34% to $1,543.
Emerging analyst assessments point to the digital currency's potential as a store of value in case of a volatility burst in the financial markets. The Bitcoin has already surpassed $10,000 in South Korea after Shinhan Bank, the country's second-largest lender, has announced it put an experimental platform to test. On the other hand, volumes have been dominated by transactions in the Japanese yen, with a share exceeding 60%. The dollar's stake is slightly higher than one fifth.
