Infineon joins Baidu's selfdriving project Apollo

German chipmaker Infineon Technologies AG said its automotive electronic hardware would prop up Baidu Inc.'s autonomous vehicle program Apollo. The companies announced the partnership on Tuesday at the CES in Las Vegas and vowed to "improve people’s intelligent life." The project has almost one hundred partners on board.

The statement highlights the platform's achievements in cloud services, open source software and reference hardware. Apollo is an open-source system for clients. The next upgrades will feature the semiconductor producer's microcontrollers, radar and lidar sensor chips, information security and functional safety, according to the press release.
