Wall Street opens higher, Dow up 150 pts on jobs data

Wall Street opened in the green on Friday with the Dow Jones increasing around 150 points as investors digested better-than-expected jobs data. Before the bell, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the number of nonfarm payrolls increased by 313,000 in February while the unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.1% or 6.7 million people. Meanwhile, market watchers gained in confidence after United States President Donald Trump agreed to meet North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un by May this year.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index gained 0.59% at the beginning of the trading session, adding 175 points. J.P.Morgan Chase was the main advancer, up 1.32%.

The S&P 500 rose 0.56% at the open, led by the gains in the energy sector.

The Nasdaq 100 started a day of trading 0.74% higher.

The euro declined 0.13% against the US dollar to sell for 1.2297 at 3:36 pm CET.
