Dow loses more than 300 points as Boeing dives

The Dow Jones Industrial Index erased modest gains made at today's opening, losing 330 points at 5:10 pm CET amid fears of a broader trade war with China reported on Tuesday. The Seattle-based giant Boeing lost 4.00% at 5:00 pm CET, as investors feared retaliatory measures by China that would affect the US aero industry.

According to media reports, President Donald Trump is planning to impose tariffs on Chinese goods, ranging from electronics and telecommunications equipment to furniture and toys. The projected value of products to be hit is reported to measure in tens of billions of dollars. Investment restrictions directed at Chinese companies are being considered as well.

Meanwhile, the S&P 500 was trading 0.50% in the red at 4:58 pm CET, dragged down by a major dive of 16.97% in the value of Signet Jewelers shares. The Nasdaq 100 dipped 0.28% at the same time.
