Germany expands Dieselgate investigation - report

Authorities in Lower Saxony have intensified efforts in examining the details of Volkswagen AG's emissions scandal from 2015 and suspected market manipulation, Wirtschaftswoche wrote on Tuesday. The news outlet said it learned from a Braunschweig prosecutor's spokesperson that 13 of the company's offices were searched earlier this month in Wolfsburg.

The investigators in the case are going through official documents about fuel expenditure and emissions of carbon dioxide in the preliminary phase of the probe, the article adds. The spokesperson revealed they are looking to determine the identities of persons responsible. Documents and data have been seized, including paperwork for market regulators, according to the report.
